A nosey wife (Dorothy Crane) meddles into the domestic troubles of her neighbors (Ben and Amelia Verber) upstairs against the wishes her husband (Stanley Crane). When the neighbors quarrel turns violent and the husband disappears, Mrs. Crane suspects foul play.
“Seriously Dorothy, you oughta keep your head out of that air shaft.” Stanley says to his wife Amelia.
“Stanley for heaven’s sake I tell you something’s happened. There hasn’t been a peek out of him since that fight last night.”
“Oh yes, that’s when he killed his wife.”
“I don’t know who killed who.”
“This weather is making you light-headed.”
“Then where is he?”
“He went to Coney Island. Or maybe he went to a ball game. Or he could have gotten a new job and went to see his mother. There’s a hundred ordinary every day explanations for it.”
“I hope so…Your lunch is ready…”
