End of April 2020. COVID-19 pandemic is so dreadful I hardly enjoy The New York Times like I used to. In the middle room I pull back the drapes. The streetlamps glow in the pitch-black morning. The wind howls eerily shaking the treetops. It is 5:36 a.m. Thunder sounds, then a flash of lightning streaks across the sky. There is a moment of daylight above the green forest. It will be raining soon. I sit back at my desk staring at his photo. He is always in my mind. I feel no separation in our distance. I sip more coffee. Strong black coffee without sugar. Sugar, as of late, gives me too much energy but not to write. My mind wanders from here to there to everywhere save not to create since I cannot stay still in one solid place. Unless I take a walk, I am no good afterwards. I crash and, since last week of crashing a lot, I woke up one afternoon to the sound of Smallville streaming on Hulu used for mindless background noise at first. But then...after re-watching the series pilot I am now fascinated with Tom Welling (Clark Kent), Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor)…and the show's hint of “The X-Files” stories but with a superhero comic-book twist. A superhero who is a bit of a clutz, nerdy, boyish and lonely with big Heart. I cannot get enough of Clark Kent and Lana Lang. I am wide wake up in Smallville... -Remy Zero, SAVE ME (Smallville Theme) Smallville for brunch
