The stock market plunges with the US stock market suffering its biggest sell-off in four years. The Dow Jones ended yesterday down 588 points, having shed more than 1,000. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq declined 10% on their recent peaks. China was the worst hit, with the Shanghai composite index dropping 8.5% in the biggest selloff since 2007. This brings total losses since the start of the month to more than 1 trillion dollars and a stock market rout that has wiped hundreds of billions of dollars off shares across the world. In the City, a young man jumped into an oncoming BART train at Embarcadero Station yesterday and was killed. The Embarcadero Station was shut down, which resulted in train delays that impacted the afternoon commute.
