Blondie’s Bar on Valencia Street is a dive bar between 16th and 17th in the Mission. Here, you get an enormous portion of Blondie bar themed Gin and Vodka Martinis for about $17 including bartender’s tip, enough for three people. On various week nights and weekends, Blondie’s provides live music on a stage erected along the side wall in the back area and enough space for dancing and presents comic acts as well. The atmosphere of this part of Valencia Street with its eclectic cafes and good strong coffee, cheap wine and Sangria, Hookah’s bars, chic local boutiques and tons of restaurants including many Moraccan and Arabic food, Roxie Theater and absolutely no American chain stores or Starbucks is like being in East Village, New York City with all the cool-looking people. Blondie’s also features local artists. The current exhibition is a tribute to African American musician and comics like Rick James, Redd Roxx, Michael Jackson, James Brown and Prince with John Lennon and David Bowie included for soul.
